The Computer Science and IT department was introduced in the year 2007, with a three year professional course in B.Sc. (IT) affiliated to Dibrugarh University with an aim to expand the Institute and as well impart professional education in computer Science & IT to the students of the locality and state as a whole. The syllabi of the course is the most upto-date one. From 2019 onwards, the department/Instiute is brought under the affiliation of Assam Science and Technology University, Guwahati from Dibrugarh University. The department also impart courses in other B.Sc. and Engineering Departments of the Institute. Almost, all out going students are either employed in many reputated MNCs and in Govt. Institutions/Govt. Undertakings, besides some student doing higher studies in different state and central Unversities.
The department also extends educational service at TEOK C.K.B. College, Sibsagar from 2018 onwards, imparting a profession skill developtment course in Computer Hardware Maintenance and DTP in collaboration with Teok C.K.B. College, Sibsagar.
The department envisions to create groomed, technologically competent, skilled intellectual IT professionally and ethically responsible graduates through balanced and dynamic curriculum specially from this region to meet the current challenges of the modern computing industry.
