About Department

The Computer Science and IT department was introduced in the year 2007, with a three-year professional course in B.Sc. (IT) affiliated to Dibrugarh University, with an aim to expand the Institute and as well as to impart professional education in computer Science & IT to the students of the locality and state as a whole. The syllabi of the course is the most upto-date one. From 2019 onwards, the Department/Institute has been brought under the affiliation of Assam Science and Technology University, Guwahati from Dibrugarh University. From the session 2023-2024, the courses are aligned with the National Education Policy NEP-2020, converting the 3(three) years course to 4(four) year course.

 The department also imparts courses in other B.Sc. and Engineering Departments of the Institute. Almost all out going students are either employed in many reputed MNCs and in Govt. Institutions/Govt. Undertakings, besides some student are doing higher studies in different states, central and foreign Universities.

The department also extends educational service at TEOK C.K.B. College, Sibsagar from 2018 onwards, imparting a professional skill development course in Computer Hardware Maintenance and DTP in collaboration with Teok C.K.B. College, Sibsagar.

Vision

The department envisions to create groomed, technologically competent, skilled intellectual IT professionally and ethically responsible graduates through balanced and dynamic curriculum specially from this region to meet the current challenges of the modern computing industry.

Mission

To quip the department with committed and competent faculty members, convert the department into full-fledged Master Degree Course involving research-oriented programmes that will provide service to the society and nation. The department aspires -

• To impart and produce skilled, qualified and motivated graduates in Information Technology through a rigorous curriculum of theory, practical and application that develops the ability to solve problems, individually and in teams.
• To provide students with the tools to become productive and participating global citizens and life-long learners.
• To provide an atmosphere for learning to investigate, apply and transfer knowledge.
